The Potion Diaries potion class
mix one part magic, two parts danger
The Potion Diaries is Amy Alward’s young adult fantasy series about Sam Kemi, a gifted potion-maker. To bring the books to life for readers at YALC, the Young Adult Literature Convention in London, we designed a magical potion class where every drink performed a trick.

- Client
- Amy Alward, author of The Potion Diaries
- Where
- YALC, London
- Format
- A hands-on magical potion class
- The magic
- Flaming cocktails, colour-changing drinks, spherification and jellification
The brief
A class that felt like stepping into Sam Kemi’s potion lab: theatrical, hands-on and themed to the books, for fans meeting the author at the convention.

What we made
Guests set cocktails alight, watched potions change colour as they mixed, and tried molecular mixology: spherification to make popping potion pearls, and jellification to set drinks into wobbling elixirs. Amy later came back to ask us for bespoke cocktails for her next book launch.
